The Peter Jowett Industry Award is a unique opportunity for NZACS members to take on the rest of the world in thinking about our industry.

Employees from Retailer and Supplier member companies are invited to select candidates between 21 and 36 years of age for this year’s competition (candidates must be no older than 36 years of age on 31st of May 2008) . Some members, in the past, have run an internal competition for their staff as a way of selecting their candidates. This is an excellent development program for people working in the petroleum and convenience channel.

The winners of the Peter Jowett Industry Award finals will go on to represent New Zealand in the Global Convenience Industry Achievement Awards to be held at the NACS Show in Chicago 4-7 October 2008 – all expenses paid by NZACS.

How does it work?

Participants can submit a written essay of no more than 4000 words or a PowerPoint presentation of no more than 30 slides on the topic selected by the global committee made up of representatives of all participating convenience industry associations around the world. A one page executive summary and a biography are also requirements for each method of submission.

Local judges will assess all submissions and select 3 supplier member winners and 2 retailer member winners. These finalists will then present their idea's on the afternoon of the NZACS Industry Awards Dinner (7th of August 2008 – Stamford Plaza Auckland)

The audience of members will vote on the presentations and select the best supplier and best retailer presenter who will then travel to Chicago to take on the world in October 2008. Winners will also be invited to the 2008 ACAPMA Convention in .
