NZACS

The NZACS Scholarship and Industry Awards event was a huge success on the 15th August with a record 197 delegates attending. Thank you to all of you for coming and we really hope that you enjoyed the evening as much as we did.

For those Peter Jowett Scholarship presenters, you can feel very proud of yourselves for firstly putting your name forward, secondly being selected as a finalist and thirdly for presenting to your industry colleagues. Congratulations to Retailer Winner Carolyn Clark from BP Oil and Supplier Winner John Nichol from British American Tobacco who received the highest scores rated by NZACS members. You two are off to Las Vegas in October!! Thank you to Peter Glass from Imperial Tobacco and Simon Parham from Mobil for ensuring that the afternoon ran smoothly.

The very professional Geoff Bryan once again hosted the Industry Awards Event with humour and ease. Roger Bull NZACS Chairman welcomed everyone and conducted the fastest AGM in history! The new managing committee was announced. Welcome to the new members! David Singer from Coalface Consulting presented the State of Industries Report which is packed with loads of relevant information for the industry. Nielsen and him! will be contributing to the report. The full report will be available on the Members Section of the web in about a week’s time. After a delicious dinner, it was time for the Industry Awards.

The 2012 NZACS Industry winners are:
Best Direct Supplier - Frucor Beverages
Best Indirect Supplier - Cerebos Foodservice (Robert Harris)
Most Improved Indirect Supplier - Nestlé
Most Improved Direct Supplier - Streets Ice Cream
2012 Convenience Head Office Award - Best Overall Direct Supplier - Frucor Beverages
2012 Convenience Head Office Award - Best Overall Indirect Supplier - Twin Agencies
Best New Product Launch Winner for 2011 - Frucor Beverages: V Blue Range
2012 Best Delivery Service - British American Tobacco
2012 Best Retailer for Store Compliance - BP Connect

Well done to those companies and of course the finalists who were in with a chance. We look forward to seeing who is on the podium next year!

Dessert was followed by Murray Thom who to quote Geoff Bryan was “like the Usain Bolt” of speeches. We heard titbits of Murray’s eventful life and that opportunities come in whispers and rely on you to take them further. He also made us think about whether the way we conduct ourselves is worthy of a standing ovation. Lots of food to thought and certainly like an Energy Drink for dessert!

Thank you to Roger Bull, Simon Parham and Peter Glass for working with me on the event. Thanks to Niki and Cushla from Herbert Morton for helping. Thank you to Crowne Plaza for being an excellent venue. Most importantly thank you once again to all of you for attending. Catching up and networking is priceless – this is one of the main platforms that NZACS aims to provide.

Please diarise the 20th November for a full day conference held at the Crowne Plaza followed by dinner down at the waterfront.

Make sure you keep your company contacts updated with us so we can keep everyone informed.
